U Between Danbury & Webster, WI TheFor ts.org BREWERY, DISTILLERY & WINERIES W isconsin and beer go hand-and-hand, which is why it was no surprise that Brickfield Brewing has been so suc- cessful. The family-friendly brewery overlooks Memory Lake in downtown Grantsburg, and boasts “grain-to-glass” brews that are served in an industrial-chic taproom. There are differ- ent events going on every week that aim to please from work- out sessions, to arts and crafts workshops, to trivia nights. But Wisconsin isn’t just known for its beer. A thriving and growing wine culture exists here, as well. Wisconsin’s one-of- a-kind climate grows unique grapes that translate into full-fla- vored, delicious Wisconsin wines. Burnett County is home to two wineries serving up some of the best in small-batch wine making. East of Siren, you’ll find Clover Meadow Winery/ White Wolf Distillery’s cozy tasting room is open year-round and comes with many great stories. Try their award-winning spirits as well. Tommy’s Too High Wines in Danbury has won multiple accolades for their unique wine flavors, and folks who visit rave about the friendly atmosphere. Some have said that it feels like their home-away-from-home. BURNETT DAIRY COOPERATIVE & RETAIL STORES B urnett Dairy Cooperative is located near Grantsburg, WI, and is a farmer-owned cooperative offering ser- vices like crop care, animal feed, and nutrition. Known for award-winning cheeses, they cater to retail, food service and private-label customers. Burnett Dairy Grantsburg Cheese Store offers over 100 varieties of small-batch cheeses, fresh cheese curds, string cheese, and local gourmet products like craft beer, wine, and spirits. Soft-serve ice cream and gourmet grilled sand- wiches are favorites. The Bistro serves breakfast and lunch with a menu of sandwiches, wraps, pizza, fried cheese curds, soups, salads and desserts. Groups are welcome and call-ahead orders are encouraged. Ample seating and parking are available. Burnett Dairy General Store is located across the parking lot from the Cheese Store. It provides convenience items, fuel, propane, hardware, farm supplies, hunting and fishing gear, DNR licenses, lawn and garden products, animal feed, power tools, country gifts and a Beer Barn with craft brews. Burnett Dairy Pizza & Retail Store is a new addition to Burnett Dairy with its pizza line and small retail store that is conveniently located on Highway 70 near the Grantsburg Inn. This location produces wholesale pizzas in the back and is a retail outlet for Burnett Dairy cheeses, take-and- bake and frozen pizzas in the front. Heading north? The Duluth Cheese Store features arti- san brick-fired pizzas, appetizers, local products and a vast cheese selection, similar to Grantsburg. Heading south? The Cady Cheese Store is known for fresh- sliced Colby, fresh cheese curds and hard-scoop ice cream, offering a true taste of Wisconsin dairy craftsmanship. BUTTERFLY HOUSE W ho would think that Burnett County is home to one of largest farms in the world for monarch production? It’s true. And in addition, the farm and the neighboring But- terfly House do the most work with monarchs and moths than anyone else in the country. Located east of Grants- burg, this part-science lab and part-bug collection breeds, collects, sells, and releases a variety of butterflies and moths. A summer seasonal visit to the Butterfly House is a special family-orientated trip. Kids (and okay, adults too) can enjoy and see the magic of hundreds and sometimes thousands of these tiny, winged creatures. Very few things can out do the thrill of a butterfly landing on your hand!
